Skip the suds with this wildly popular, natural hair styling alternative.
Shampooing gets rid of gunk + grime – but doing it daily rinses away beneficial oils that keep hair healthy. Despite “shampoo” in the name, dry shampoo doesn’t really clean anything, or take the place of regular washing… it just stretches the days in-between. The powdery concoction works by soaking up excess oils from your scalp without the use of water. It also ads texture, boosts volume + extends the life of your color or blowout. Yay for fab hair in fewer washes!
What You’ll Need
- Mixing Bowl
- Whisk
- Shaker Jar or Empty Spice Bottle
Light Hair Recipe
- 2 Tbsp. (pick one) Arrowroot, Cornstarch or Baking Soda
- 2 Tbsp. Oat Flour (or ground Rolled Oats)
- 5 Drops of Essential Oils (optional)
Dark Hair Recipe
- 2 Tbsp. (pick one) Arrowroot, Cornstarch or Baking Soda
- 2 Tbsp. Oat Flour (or ground Rolled Oats)
- 2 Tbsp. Cocoa Powder
- 5 Drops of Essential Oils (optional)
Tips
- Always use the highest quality of fresh, organic ingredients when possible.
- Most materials + ingredients can be purchased at Mountain Rose Herbs or on Amazon.
- Try essential oils like grapefruit (Light Hair) or peppermint (Dark Hair).
- Less is more when applying, as it can leave a slight white residue on hair.
Instructions
- Whisk dry ingredients + blend well.
- Mix in essential oils (optional) + blend well.
- Store in a tightly sealed spice jar or container with a shaker top.
- Sprinkle it on, work it in + brush it out.
