REVIEW: DROPPS Dishwasher, Laundry Detergent, & Oxi Booster Pods

I don’t know about you, but, I recently got fed-up with almost all of the cleaning products I’d been using! I felt like they weren’t working anymore, and just needed a change! And so far, Dropps seems be the perfect switcharoo!

All of their products are Dye-Free, Chlorine-Free, Phosphate-Free, Phthalate-Free, have been Never Tested On Animals. They’re also Made in USA, 3rd Party Lab Tested, and HE Compatible. And, they give full ingredient disclosure, which I love!

Dropps ultra-concentrated pods are made from Polyvinyl Alcohol (or, PVOH) – a water soluble casing that dissolves upon contact with water. Inside, they use mineral based ingredients, as well as a blend of enzymes, and / or oxygen based bleach, to power their formulas without harsh chemicals.

As for scent, they use a mix of natural and synthetic fragrances. Their reasoning is that “all-natural” doesn’t always equal “sustainable.” And, they give the example, that it takes one metric ton of rose petals, to make just one teaspoon of essential rose oil. Therefore, they formulate their products with CleanGredients, the EPA’s ingredient database supporting safer chemistry. Since their products are Phthalate-Free, I don’t mind a little scent here or there – as long as its not overpowering (which, it definitely isn’t, BTW).

Dropps also designed their compostable cardboard packaging to help keep single-use plastics out of landfills, and is 100% Carbon Neutral with Shipping. They’re also the exclusive home cleaning partner of Oceana – the world’s largest ocean conservancy organization.

Their Laundry & Dishwasher Pods come in 64, 128, or 192 count boxes, and are designed to fit all machines, including European and smaller apartment sized models. And, the best part is that you don’t have to subscribe! I mean, you can if you want – but, you don’t have to!

Dropps Dishwasher Detergent

The triple-action dishwashing detergent from Dropps uses natural minerals to rinse away baked-on food and stains, no pre-wash needed. I’ll be honest, I pre-wash anyway – just out of habit. I’ll have to remind myself to stop, now! Ha! However, when we’ve just thrown stuff in, knowing we were going to turn the dishwasher on right away – we never noticed that anything was still stuck on afterwards. So, that’s always a plus!

Also, when I saw that the Pods were powder, my main concern was that there might be powder residue left on everything? We’ve had this issue in the past (with other brands), which is annoying. FYI: we use nothing but White Vinegar in our Rinse Cycle. But, so far we’ve had no issues with these – everything comes out really clean and sparkly! We have the Lemon Dishwasher Detergent Pods, and love the super-light, natural scent.

Dropps Stain & Odor Laundry Detergent

By looking at the Pod, you’re probably thinking – there’s no way  its enough to clean anything! Well… we thought the same thing! So, we did a side-by-side comparison with a super-popular, conventional (unscented) laundry detergent. I’m talking the Mother of all Laundry Detergents (the orange container)! And, we. were. shook! Been watching too many Youtube vids, clearly… but, we were shocked that we could not tell the difference… which, you know – is almost never the case with natural laundry detergents! It gets stains out, doesn’t fade anything, and smells like clean clothes! So, definitely check these out if you’re in the market for a new, clean brand!

We got the Clean & Crisp Stain & Odor Laundry Detergent Pods. I wanted the Citrus or the Unscented ones, since I’m a little sensitive to scents – but these were the ones they sent me. They say it’s supposed to be like a hint of citrus, with a touch of pine (which, I didn’t notice, and was totally thrilled about. Not a fan of pine) – like your laundry was line-dried in the sun. To us, it was just really natural, fresh and light. Like, that little extra somethin-somethin. Another thing I thought was cool, was that these Pods also come in Small (or 1/2 Load) sizes too! Great if you live by yourself!

Dropps Laundry & Household Oxi Booster

If you’ve ever used natural laundry detergents, you’re probably not new to Oxi, or Oxygen Bleach type products, in place of Chlorine Bleach. In my opinion, Oxi products are not as whitening, or brightening on your Whites / Lights as bleach – but they’re definitely the next best thing. And, there are no harsh smells! These only come in Unscented, and literally smell like Zero. Zilch. Nada. Definitely, a must-have in your laundry room, especially if using natural detergents.

The Oxi Booster Pods get paired up with the Detergent Pods, for when you need an extra boost! So, you throw them in at the same time. We always toss them in with our loads of Colors, as well as with our Lights/ Whites. We don’t put them with our Darks though. And, PS – I just found this really great list of 100 Ways to use Oxi Booster! There are so may other things I had no idea it could do, too! Check it out!

Small swaps for life’s everyday tasks, can have a big impact!

These are awesome! I’m going to get some. I was using the phosphate free gel but this looks like a better product. Thanks for sharing!

I thought I’d get the Unscented Laundry pods to try but after reading some of the ingredients and “skin irritant” warning on box, I decided not to risk an eczema flare-up. I’m reacting to even air it seems these days! *sigh* I see all the great reviews for dropps but there are also enough reviews (on Amazon) from those super sensitive folks, like me who had reactions, to steer me away from trying right now. I have to stick to my Branch Basics concentrated soap and vinegar rinse for now. As always, your reviews are so helpful! Thank you!

Hey Amy! Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that! I’m extremely sensitive too – but haven’t have any reactions to these, luckily. I haven’t tried Branch Basics yet, but have heard so many great things about them, and – their ingredients are of course amazing! Have you tried Biokleen, Molly’s Suds, or Rebel Green (their Veggie Wash is the BEST, BTW!)? We’ve also had pretty good luck with those, too! Hope this helps! XO – Danielle 💖

Hey Amanda! Thanks for reaching out! I totally know how you feel, and I’m so sorry you have to go through this. Like, you, I’m just another Cancer Survivor, so unfortunately, I don’t have any products to provide… just some resources that have helped me along the way. Reach out to Unite for HER (and tell them I sent you)! They have some really great programs that may be able to help! XO – Danielle 💗
