The thing I love most about NOW products is that they’re super-easy to find, always at an affordable price point + really versatile! Most products I buy from the brand have a number of uses + often get used in my DIY Beauty projects. Reason being – they’re 100% natural, great quality + if I screw up a recipe… I won’t break the bank!
Here are some of my Favorite Picks from NOW Solutions!
Vegetable Glycerine – Pure Vegetable Glycerine is an outstanding moisturizer + skin cleanser that provides softening + lubricating benefits. It’s hypoallergenic + easily soluble in water, making it suitable for use in all of your favorite cosmetic applications. It also has a long shelf life + does not easily oxidize. This particular one is a naturally derived from Non-GMO palm oil or vegetable oil + is an absolute must-have in my DIY Beauty stash! I regularly add Vegetable Glycerine to my Castile Soap to help soften it up + add a little moisture – otherwise, it tends to be a bit too drying on my skin. I also use this in my Makeup Setting Spray recipe, as well as in just about anything I shave with!
E-Oil 32,000 IU – Natural E-Oil helps to soothe the skin + keep it healthy. Another absolute must, especially for dark Acne marks, Surgery Scars + Razor Burn. Last time I had surgery, I found myself sterilizing a needle + popping open Vitamin E capsules by the dozen because I couldn’t find a brand without additives. So, I was happy to find this product in a liquid + love that I can use just a drop, without having to waste an entire capsule! For any type of scars, I apply on damp skin, usually at night. And, this works miracles on Razor Burn {which I get frequently, I’m really sensitive!}… I just add a few drops of this, + Evening Primrose Oil {see below} to my body moisturizer before applying. This is also a staple in many of my DIY beauty recipes since it helps to naturally preserve, + extending the shelf life.
Evening Primrose Oil – Pure Evening Primrose Oil {EPO} is an all-natural vegetable oil used as an herbal treatment for a variety of ailments. EPO contains essential fatty acids (EFA’s) that support body tissues, including skin. Combined with zinc, it may be helpful for a healthy complexion. Each 1 ml of oil contains 80-100 mg of GLA – an essential fatty acid that can nourish + protect healthy skin cells. Pure EPO is derived from Evening Primrose seeds that are pressed at a low temperature to obtain a pure, natural, virgin oil, without the use of solvents, fillers or preservatives. My recent kick with Evening Primrose Oil is inspired by an amazing moisturizer that my Mom + I used to use when I was in HS {can’t remember the name + I don’t think they make it anymore}. EPO was the main ingredient + we both thought it was the best thing ever! In the past year, I’ve had several occasions where my skin has gotten really itchy, dry + flakey from using facial + body oils… to the point where I’ve even questioned using certain oils all together. I’m not sure if it’s from testing too many products at once, but I’ve tried taking a break, spacing them out + only using only things I know I don’t have a reaction to. Hands-down, this is one of my favorite oils of all-time + has really been my savior in terms of reducing irritation, so… it’s making a huge comeback in my beauty routine! I like to apply it after a good facial mask or scrub, or on my body right outta the shower. And, I use it both ways – straight-up, or by adding a few drops to boost my usual moisturizers.
Ear Oil Relief – Now’s Ear Oil Relief is a natural herbal formula that cleanses + comforts delicate tissues of the ear canal. Having a history of painful, chronic Sinus Infections over the years, I got desperate when nothing worked… until I came across this article that Leslie wrote about her mother’s Cold-Busting Secrets over on Crunchy Betty! THANK YOU Leslie’s Mom, you’re a life-saver! Her trick is to put a few drops of Hydrogen Peroxide into your ears {this is a bit controversial, so Google it + use your best judgement} + then drain them as soon you feel a Cold coming on {I’ve also done it when I’ve been really sick too + it’s worked for me!}. I then put a few drops of the Ear Relief Oil on a Q-Tip + rub it around the inside, + outside of my ear to help reduce any dryness from the Peroxide + prevent any Ear Infections or gems from getting in. While I’m not a doctor, this is something I really swear by because it has been that life-changing for me! I hardly ever get Sinus Infections {or Colds} anymore since I started doing this, + if I do, the symptoms are drastically reduced + not nearly as painful as they used to be. I believe I owe it all to this powerful combination!
MSM Powder – MSM (Methylsulphonylmethane) is a natural form of organic Sulfur found in all living organisms. This natural compound, researched since 1979, provides the chemical links needed to form + maintain numerous different types of tissues found in the human body, including connective tissue such as articular cartilage.* While MSM is a natural component of almost all fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood + meat, food-processing methods reduce sulfur levels, making supplementation more important than ever. In terms of beauty + Acne in particular, I’ve had really great results with products that contain Sulfur like this one + this one, so… I’ve been on the hunt for some others that use Sulfur topically. The only problem is that many of them contain lots ingredients I won’t use like Parabens, PEG’s, + Fragrances, or don’t even disclose the ingredients at all. MSM is a strong detoxifier, + this powder doesn’t contain any additional ingredients – so I thought it might make a great facial mask, + I was right! While it doesn’t seem to work instantaneous miracles like I thought it would in a mask, it does gently reduce the size of pimples + really brighten + plum everything up… leaving my skin really soft. I was afraid it might be too drying or dulling, but it wasn’t at all… it was actually quite calming. So far I’m still playing around with the best amounts of MSM – but I’ve used it with Clay, Water, Manuka Honey {as the activator} + a few drops of Vitamin E {notice a recurring theme here? Get some. Lol}. Also heard Vitamin C works well as an activator too, but haven’t tried it yet. Hopefully I’ll have a DIY Beauty Recipe for you guys soon!
Cheer Up Buttercup! Oil Blend – Uplifting, refreshing, energizing blend of Cold Pressed, Steam Distilled Bergamot, Orange, Lime, Grapefruit, + Lemon Oils. I’m a huge fan of Citrus scents, so I was immediately drawn to this… but the name + the adorbs little flower are what got me initially! Often times I find myself adding my own essential oils {usually any or all of the following: Grapefruit, Orange, Lemon or Lime} to all kinds of unscented products: bath salts, scrubs, liquid soaps, etc., so I figured a pre-mixed blend might be a little easier. And it is! Love it because it’s a such bright combo that works especially well in baths + cleaning products, but I kind of wish it didn’t have Bergamot in it because I’m not such a fan. Nothing I can’t live with though + would still highly recommend.
