Buy This!

Bubble + Bee Organic 100% Organic Insect Repellant Not only is this bug spray really all-natural, it’s 100% USDA Certified Organic! It contains no water, preservatives, synthetic chemicals or estrogen mimickers, is DEET-free, gluten-free + vegan, plus, no animal testing. But does it work, you ask? Yes, yes + YES! Don’t let the adorable packaging fool you though! This product is all business, working against mosquitoes, no-see-ums, + ticks. I know, because I’m normally a schmorgas-board when I’m outdoors (pesky-pests love me)! This spray also smells amazing (I wanna wear it all the time!) compared to the usual, chemical-based suspects! Plus, it’s waaaaay safer! Ingredients: Organic soybean oil (non-GMO), organic geranium essential oil, organic clove essential oil, organic lemongrass essential oil, organic peppermint essential oil, organic rosemary essential oil.

 Not That!

OFF! Botanicals Insect Repellant contains a unique formula (so unique, they don’t want us to know what’s in it!) that uses a plant-based active repellent ingredient called, p-menthane-3,8-diol. While the company claims that p-menthane-3,8-diol is an ingredient found in eucalyptus plants (yay for that!), I haven’t been able to find much research about it, other than that. They also mention on the front of the bottle that it contains aloe, but we don’t know what else is, or isn’t in it – because they don’t fully disclose all of their ingredients (on their website, or on the back of the bottle!). So, while I would think that this is a slightly cleaner version of their regular products, there’s really no way to tell. Therefore, I’d opt for an insect repellant where I can make a more informed decision about what I’m putting on my body. Ingredients: 10% p-Menthane-3,8-diol,  90% other Ingredients** (**contains petroleum distillates).

Have you tried Bubble + Bee’s Bug Spray yet? If not, what natural or organic insect repellants do you use?

I think the best insect repellant is simply some carrier oil with citronella essential oil. Rosemary, lemongrass, mint, lavender, thyme, eucalyptus, and basil essential oils also work good.

I am glad I have opened your site. This enlightened me about that OFF insect repellant. I’ve been hearing such thing in some ADS and just this time that I know what’s really behind it. Good to know that organic insect repellant. I can avoid that OFF Product by now.

I use the Soap & Salve natural Don’t Bug Me spray. Based on cedar wood and citronella, works really well for me!
